Hi ya,
Well, I realized this morning that it has been 2 long days since I have written. You must be thinking I have been up to exciting stuff! Well, you would be, mostly wrong!
Wednesday, I didn't work so I decided to bike into town along - you guessed it - the Thames River. It was a cool crisp day, but sunny and lovely. I didn't do too much in town really. Got a few things I needed at the house and did some exploring. There is this pub I have been searching for called the Turf Tavern. Its the most popular pub in town, but the hardest one to find! I finally found it...but it was a mission. I will probably take my weekend guests there, so I will get some pics then and show you what I mean!
Thursday afternoon I had a booking at a Primary School about 3.5 miles from my house. I rode my trusty bike...took about 10-15min. What an experience it is riding your bike on the wrong side of the rode! Something I will continue to get used to. The school I was at was very small - as most Primary schools are. I just had a Year 3 class (Grade 2) for 2 hours, so have been bragging that I make £30/hr (= ~$50/hr). They were a good class, we had some fun. I taught them about Baseball (since it is a very American sport), specifically strikes. It seemed to work, but they did get 3 strikes - which meant no "choosing time". It's amazing how much I am not a primary teacher. I always thought I was, because I feel like I am a big kid sometimes and obviously I enjoy working with children. Maybe its because I have been around Secondary students for so long, but I just couldn't imagine teaching Primary day in and day out. However, that being said - if the worst thing I have to deal with in Primary school are 30 tattle-talers, me thinks I don't have much to complain about!
Its almost 8am here, which means I am still sitting by the phone. If nothing comes in, I will run to the grocery store to pick up some things for this weekend.
I am off next week, as it is half term here in England. Its a bit of a bummer because it means no money coming in for next week - which also means no travel! However, you have to look at the good in everything - so for me, that means more lie ins and more time with my fab "adopted cousins" in Wallingford!
Have a great weekend - you may not here from me until Sunday, but I will have lots to share!
Much love! xo
