Big Day & Big Ben!

Hello - hope your weekends are off to a fab start!

My Friday was more interesting than first expected! Usually by about 8:30am, if I haven't received a call, there is no work for that day, so I start making plans. Well, I started making plans to meet a friend of mine in London for the day, and I got a call for work! Strangely enough, it was just 2 morning classes I was covering - which seemed a little silly, but work is work! I was at The Oxford Academy, which is close to my house. I have heard that this school is tough and has a lot of bad behaviour. When I first arrived, I was given a fob, as every door in the school is always locked! (eeeek!). Anyway, the 2 classes I had (Year 9 & Year 7 Art/Technology) were brilliant and well behaved. (I was told by the Head of Art that I was covering for an American teacher, who had been sent back to the States to sort out her Visa...how much of a nightmare would that be! Leaving in the middle of full time work to sort out your Visa....best of luck to her!)

So I got back to my house, grabbed some lunch and took the Oxford "Tube" to London. It took about 1.5 hours...pretty good for a Friday afternoon! It dropped me off at Victoria Station (very close to Buckingham Palace). My friend Jessica (from Brock) met me there and off we went to explore London!
JWal & I in front of St. Pauls Cathedral

We had a great afternoon catching up and visiting some of the main tourist attracts of London. After that, we went back to her friend's flat (she is also a Brock alum), made some supper, had some pints (I tried Parkin's Special....very tasty indeed) and went to a local pub that was on the way to drop me off to catch the real tube! It was a good first visit to London. I was anxious to get there to see what it was like and get my bearings a little bit, as it is a HUGE city.

Check out this shots I got today...hope to see Big Bed, Tower Bridge, Parliament Buildings and of course have tea with the Queen when I go back.

Buckingham Palace

The closest I got to Big Ben (this trip)

This was along Buckingham Palace Road

Shakespeare Globe Theatre (would LOVE to see a play here)

(inside the theatre)

Trafalgar Square

St Pauls Cathedral (stunning inside)

Walking Across London Bridge (it did not fall down!)

All for now! It is a gorgeous day here in Oxford, so I am off to go for a walk along the Thames, and see what kind of carpe I can seize today!

Much love! xo
