Carpe Diem

I once had a friend tell me to "seize some carpe". It was used as a loose term, but since this friend spoke those words to me about 2 years ago, I have taken them to heart. Some days more so than others.

Days before I left Canada to fly over to the UK, a childhood friend of mine had the worst kind of tragedy strike, the unexpected loss of a sibling. As I was on the brink of the adventure of a lifetime, I sat back to realize how quickly this fleeting life can really end. I don't mean to get all profound or anything, but the point of this blog is to help keep my family and friends updated, but also as a tool for me to remember to "seize some carpe".

So far, I have made the most out of the 2 weeks I have been here, doing something everyday that is either different, exciting, challenging, stressful, fun, etc. and then share it with you!

Today, I didn't get called for work, so I decided I would travel to Bicester (famous for outlet shopping) and check it for the afternoon. It was challenging/stressful/exciting/different all in one! I had NO idea where EXACTLY it was...just which bus to get on. Problem is, bus doesn't drop you off exactly in front of the outlets. The bus driver told me where to get off, but the rest was up to me...lucky for me, and all of my university and college education, I was able to find the outlets!! I had a great afternoon shopping (well, MOSTLY looking around) and talking to a few different people - you would be amazed at how my accent attracts attention!

This evening I was invited to a night out in Wallingford! There was an open mic night at one of the pubs in town, so I went with Elinor, the lovely lady I have been staying with. She is conducting a local choir, Cat's Chorus, so I got to hear them sing tonight, amongst other locals.

It was a lovely evening, in fact, my last official evening in Wallingford. However, not my last time in Wallingford! I will definitely be returning, and will absolutely be showing this village to any visitors I may get in Oxford!

Tomorrow (October 2nd) is my mom's birthday. I won't say her age, just incase, but she is a GORGEOUS 35!! :-) I love you and miss you MOM! Have a fab day with your sisters and mama!

All for now, as I am CREAM CRACKERED! - wish me luck as I move tomorrow!

Cheers!
