Blenheim Palace

Yowza!

What.

a.

Day!!

I didn't get called in for work this morning, so I decided to do something I have wanted to do since I got here, but can only be done a sunny day - Blenheim Palace!!

Now, for a little bit of history about this Palace - Queen Mary gave the Manor of Woodstock as a gift (!!) to John Churchill (1st Duke of Marlborough) as well as a house to be called Blenheim after his famous battle there. The construction began in 1712, but someone's royal bounty dried up! (haha) Work eventually finished on the Palace with the help of some fancy architects and a park landscaper. It's most known for being the birthplace of Winston Churchill. Blah blah blah - that should be enough information...I'll put my nerd glasses away, for now.

To sum up my experience - I could spent DAYS on end at this place...I don't know exactly the archer-age but it's, as the French say: Grande!

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...(remember, you can click on the picture to make it bigger)

Winston Churchill proposed to his wife here, 1908 (Temple of Diana)

How cool is this...my photo from today vs the photo by Henry Taunt in 1898

Now, I didn't get to see everything today, but I was awarded a year long pass today (for free!) after purchasing my admission ticket for today. I will definitely be heading back at some point to finish looking around!

Hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving weekend!!

Cheers! x
